Obstacles to financial self sufficency
A brief analysis of the factors which affect homelessness relate directly to the lack of affordable housing, state cuts, and the competitive work market. Some of the challenges our participants face include unemployment, lack of education, addiction and mental health needs, as well as various disabilities. On average 2/3 are unemployed primarily because of lack of education, job skills, or a criminal record. 2/3 require assistance because of a major trauma such as a divorce, eviction, or health crisis. 100% of our families are employed at least part time, but do not make enough to make ends meet.
